Starting therapy can feel intimidating, whether it's your first time or you're looking for something different than what you've tried before. You may be feeling overwhelmed, stuck in familiar patterns, or simply ready for something to change — especially in the middle of the demands of student life, work, or both. I've worked in mental health since 2000, with over 25 years of experience with adolescents, young adults, and adults. I'm licensed in Oregon, Washington, and Colorado, and I see clients through secure telehealth. I work with anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, grief, chronic illness, relationship concerns, burnout, and major life transitions. I have particular experience with college and graduate students, helping professionals, and people navigating the emotional weight of chronic or invisible illness. My approach is collaborative and active. Insight matters, but understanding why a pattern exists doesn't always change how it feels — so alongside talking, we work toward new emotional, relational, and nervous-system experiences that let change happen on a deeper level. I draw on attachment theory, interpersonal neurobiology, and approaches like Somatic Experiencing, AEDP, IFS, and EMDR, depending on what fits you. Some sessions focus on practical strategies and current challenges. Others slow down to explore what's happening underneath. We'll find the pace that actually helps.

I support adults navigating anxiety, chronic stress, burnout, grief, and life transitions. Anxiety can show up as racing thoughts, tension in the body, difficulty resting, or a persistent sense that something is wrong even when life looks fine on the outside. You do not have to manage this alone.

You feel alone, prioritize the needs of others, and wonder if things will change, asking: "What am I protecting? Who am I trying to be? What do I want?" Relationships (breakups, separation, dating, divorce) can bring up anxiety, regret, fear and self-judgment. These effect the relationship we have with ourselves. Resentments, anger, and guilt - toward others and within ourselves make us feel disconnected and alone. As a therapist, my aim is to help you reconnect with your SELF. Everyone is different. Our expectations and ideals are influenced by family history, surrounding cultural expectations, and unique experiences. Our therapy sessions help you develop tools to define relationships you want, conquer anxiety, past regrets, self doubt, negative self-image, and slowly dispose of the negative loud inner-monologue (which comes up frequently, when you are trying to navigate your road ahead.) I am an Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapist using Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), Gottman therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I) tools to develop a solid foundation of self - (via telehealth, online) in both Oregon and Washington State. Specialties: Individuals dealing with sleep issues/insomnia, difficulty with focus (ADHD); folks going through separation/divorce to develop purpose, motivation and intention; individuals in relationships cultivate/improve connection; single individuals build a sense of self (aligned with values) which can be applied toward dating and future relationships. __________________________________________ Interested in seeing if we connect? I specialize in treating people who struggle with trauma, OCD, anxiety, and/or insomnia. I strive to help my patients reduce suffering and increase joy and connection by incorporating relevant science and research, humor, and compassion throughout the treatment process. The treatment process will involve gaining an understanding of your strengths and challenges, collaboratively developing goals for treatment, and implementing tools and skills learned in therapy to live a more fulfilling, effective, and meaningful life. Therapy with me will be more directive at times so that you feel empowered to confront challenging issues. For each area I specialize in, I use approaches that I’ve been extensively trained in and that have been proven to be effective for many people: EMDR, Cognitive Processing Therapy, or Prolonged Exposure for trauma, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Exposure & Response Prevention for OCD and other anxiety disorders, and CBT-I for insomnia. I received my master’s and doctorate degrees in clinical psychology from Pacific University. My experience as an Air Force veteran and former military psychologist has given me a wealth of experience providing the gold standard in trauma treatment.

I work with relationship issues and sexuality, certified as a Relationship Therapist through the Gottman Institute of Seattle. I am also certified as a Sex Therapist through AASECT, the American Association of Sex Educators, Counselors and Therapists. Several years ago I realized I am autistic and now I address issues experienced by people who are autistic/ Asperger's or those who wonder whether they may carry that diagnosis. I also see people with other forms of neurodivergence such as ADHD. Originally I am from Boston and grew up in a working class family with a commitment to political activism. I am licensed in NY and FL as well as Oregon and Washington State. Although I offer some reduced fee spots I am sorry to say they are consistently full.

I help college students cope with mental health challenges that get in the way of school and relationships. Having too much self-control, or overcontrol, makes it hard to enjoy life and connect meaningfully with others. It’s exhausting to feel like you’re always ‘on’, performing, or wearing a mask. Overcontrol can lead to problems like anxiety, depression, disordered eating, obsessive-compulsive behaviors, and intimacy avoidance. You don’t have to struggle alone–I’ve been a therapist working with LGBTQIA+, BIPOC, and other overcontrolled folks for over 10 years. Together, we can get you unstuck. Using practical (and fun!) research-validated strategies, you’ll learn to harness your self-control as a strength and break free from patterns that burn you out. Finding a therapist who gets you can be stressful. Let’s make this process easier for you: email me, call me, or visit waveways.org, and we’ll schedule a free consultation to discuss your hopes and needs.

As a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) and board certified psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner, my goal is to provide safe, effective, and inclusive care to individuals throughout the Pacific Northwest. With a decade of nursing experience in emergency medicine and psychiatry, my treatment approach prioritizes therapeutic listening and individualized medication management that considers the “whole picture.” I believe that mental health care is most effective when it honors the whole person, fostering not only symptom relief but also a deeper connection to the relationships, activities, and passions that bring us joy. Prior to joining the team at Upwell Psychiatry, I was the lead practitioner of an esketamine (Spravato) and Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) clinic treating individuals with severe, treatment-resistant mental health conditions. I believe strongly in the power of community in supporting mental wellness, and enjoy working with neurodiverse and LGBTQIA+ identifying individuals. Whether you are seeking support for a specific challenge or simply looking to cultivate greater balance and well-being in your life, I’d be glad to partner with you on your mental health journey!
