You're entering or exiting college, and life feels like a maze; relationships, family, identity, academics, career... it can be a lot. Maybe you find yourself feeling stuck, overthinking everything, or wondering why you feel disconnected in your relationships. You are not alone. I help young adults drop self-limiting beleifs and find a sense of empowerment in their true selves. Whatever you are struggling with, I offer a space to explore unwanted patterns with curiosity (some humor) and no judgment. I believe the client-therapist relationship is the most important component in healing and I strive to be transparent and affirming. Together we can explore how your past is affecting the way you show up in the world now. We will practice tools, strengthen your self-understanding and create trust in your mind and body. As a creative arts therapist of 9 years, I am trained in traditional talk therapy and evidence based art therapy. It is your choice each session to decide which we use to explore your goals. Change can feel scary, and at the same time, often leads to fulfillment. I invite you to reach out so we chat about what you would like to see improve in your life.

Life can feel overwhelming when you're carrying the weight of your personal identity, family expectations, or the impacts of generational trauma. You may find yourself caught between who you are and who others expect you to be, leading to feelings of stress, self-doubt, or disconnection. Many of my clients seek a space where all parts of their identity are seen and affirmed, while also working through challenges like anxiety, depression, family of origin issues, or difficult life transitions. Together, we focus on healing, resilience, and building a stronger sense of self. I provide a supportive, collaborative space grounded in trauma-informed and culturally responsive care. Drawing from relational, strengths-based, and evidence-based approaches like CBT, DBT, and mindfulness, I help clients explore challenges, build resilience, and create change that feels authentic to who they are. I know it takes courage to seek support, and it's important to find someone who truly understands and respects you. My goal is to provide a safe and compassionate environment where you can feel seen, valued, and empowered to move forward in ways that feel right for you. If you're ready to begin this process, I would be honored to walk alongside you.

Ecdysis (pronounced Ek-Duh-Sus), by definition, is the process that snakes and reptiles undergo when shedding their skin, and it is a metaphor for how I view the therapeutic process. I started Ecdysis Psychology with the goal of helping people navigate difficult or uncomfortable changes in order to discover the best versions of themselves. In my 15+ years of experience treating adults and adolescents in inpatient and outpatient settings, I have encountered individuals experiencing symptoms of depression, mania, anxiety, psychosis, and personality disorders as well as those struggling with addiction and sexual concerns, and I learned that what matters most in treatment is motivation. Anyone with a willingness to change can do so, regardless of the traumas or negative experiences of your past. Therapy is a tool to help guide you through difficult life situations, and my practice focuses on helping clients cope with stressful circumstances, such as grief, traumatic events, relationship difficulties, divorce, family conflict, fertility struggles, depression, low self-esteem, problems with assertive communication, or anxiety. Each person's treatment course is custom to their needs and is based upon the theoretical underpinnings of cognitive behavioral therapy, positive psychology, and mindfulness. I look forward to working with you and supporting you on your personal growth journey.
If you are located in NY and RI, I can provide you year-round teletherapy when you are at away at college and at home, as I am licensed in both states. I have worked for 7 years at a college counseling center, and so I know first-hand the many barriers to seeking help at your college's counseling center, and reasons why a college counseling center may not have been the right fit or positive experience for you. I am a seasoned, experienced therapist, dedicated to helping my clients feel joy, hope, worthiness, and fulfillment. College can be a really difficult time and I am here to support you. I am very experienced in working with anxiety, depression, trauma, trauma from a sexual assault or relationships violence, processing trauma from childhood, and current family boundary struggles, homesickness, feeling like your college is not the right fit, struggling to find your major/passion/career path, struggling around your sexuality or gender identity-or struggling with the many ways society/family makes it difficult to live out your authentic life, roommate struggles, struggles around making big life decisions during college, feeling like the "only" at your college related to race, or gender identity, sexuality or ethnicity or nationality, feeling lonely in college, and many more struggles that can make college challenging, and not what you hoped for or expected. These are just some of the struggles you might be experiencing in college, and I can help. I have a virtual-only practice. Even through the computer screen my clients report feeling that I am a warm, attentive, invested therapist. I look forward to hearing from you and helping you with whatever you are going through. Hi, I’m Megan—Licensed Therapist (LCSW) Starting therapy in college can feel overwhelming—maybe you’re navigating new independence, academic pressure, identity questions, or a recent breakup. Or maybe you're simply looking for someone steady to talk to. Whatever brings you here, I aim to make therapy feel approachable, collaborative, and actually helpful—not stiff or one-sided. I work with students managing a range of concerns, including anxiety, trauma, perfectionism, ADHD, and relationship or family stress. My style is warm, down-to-earth, and rooted in trauma-informed care. I have a particular interest in working with students who are high-functioning on the outside but feeling overwhelmed or stuck internally—those who are used to keeping it together for everyone else but could use some space to focus on themselves. Whether you’re sorting through a situationship, burnout, or just trying to figure out who you are in this stage of life, I offer a nonjudgmental space to reflect, feel supported, and build lasting change. Humor and real talk welcome.
Together, we will explore the challenges you experience and build new skills to improve quality of life. I have several years of experience with college/adult populations and student-athletes. I use a Holistic approach for treatment that emphasizes CBT and DBT to increase success when coping with stress. When these skills are built, I favor utilizing IFST to embrace all aspects of who you are and learn how each of those aspects can be used for you to become fullest version of yourself!

I focus on providing clinical support to clients who would like to achieve higher potential in their life, career, sports and overall life balance. Sometimes people feel stuck in old patterns of behavior and weighed down by previous negative experiences. I utilize several psychotherapeutic modalities that are based on individual needs and goals; allowing clients to move forward in a more positive and fulfilling way. I incorporate nutrition and active life style, if needed, to provide the best results for clients. I believe in holistic integration of mind and body to provide the healing strategies to overcome depression, anxiety, past trauma, mood lability, addiction and difficult life transitions. I also assist athletes with providing them with mental tools to perform at their highest level or coming back from their sport-related injuries. As a clinical social worker, I work with clients as part of the larger system of their family, community and culture. I utilize DBT, CBT, Trauma competency and treatment, integrative medicine for mental health approach and solution focused approaches.
ADHD is more than just "having difficulty focusing," and no, not "everyone has a little bit of ADHD" as many people claim nowadays. The impact of ADHD is pervasive and can keep you from reaching your goals, connecting with others, maintaining a routine despite knowing that it would be helpful, and constantly "masking" for fear that you will not be accepted as you are. Life administrative tasks feel daunting and get postponed repeatedly, and the negative self-talk that ensues as a result takes a further toll and increases avoidance. I can help you understand the brain science of ADHD, incorporate aspects of mindfulness, somatic work, and other modalities to overcome these challenges, and regain your mental energy. You'll learn to work with your neurodivergence, NOT against it. I work from an anti-oppressive, anti-racist, lens and am mindful about how culture, immigration journeys and systemic racism play a role in how someone compensates for their ADHD.
We are experiencing challenging times. The effects of the COVID-19 pandemic are numerous and have created a long lasting crisis situation that is exacerbating depression, anxiety, feelings of fear and hopelessness, and triggering unhealthy regressive patterns and behaviors. It has placed stress on marriages, partnerships and families, and has left us feeling disconnected, frustrated and fearful. We are also experiencing a massive shift in our paradigm regarding race and ethnicity, which necessitates a different therapeutic consciousness that is more holistic, and that includes the issue of how racism and inequality affect mental health. As we navigate the “new normal,” it’s important to have a supportive space that can help define issues that are problematic so we can adjust accordingly to the harmful effects of the current crisis. In addition to treating mood disorders and trauma that affect daily functioning, as a relationship therapist, I believe the foundation of all relationships begins with the most important relationship of all – the one you have with yourself. Perhaps the life you have is different from the life you desire. If so, we will focus on core issues that might be preventing you from living that life. Some of the challenges you might be facing at this time include: Toxic/unhealthy dynamics in families of origin. A lack of strong role models. The search for a partner who more closely fulfills your needs. The decision of when/if to start a family. A career that means more than just a paycheck and allows you to live up to your full potential and desires. Unexpected health challenges. A nonconforming identity. We will not only address symptoms. We will examine the changes you want to make to live a more fulfilling life.
