Life has a way of throwing challenges at us when we least expect it. At times we can easily overcome the barriers but for the other times we may need to reach out for support. Therapy can offer a safe, non-judgmental place to help us decrease emotional stress, better understand our past, and help us to develop tools to move forward. I'm a licensed Creative Arts Therapist with 9 years of clinical experience and specialize in the treatment of trauma, depression, anxiety and stress, LGBTQIA+ issues, identity and self-exploration. I strive to be genuine, developing positive relationships so I can be a partner in your healing process. In my 9 years of practice working with many different people with a large variety of diagnoses, I have come to individualize treatment utilizing a variety of techniques including talk-therapy, non-verbal therapies (EMDR), and art-based techniques. The path to healing is not straight and can feel like an impossible task, but we do not have to walk alone. The human body has incredible power to recall difficult memories, bury negative thoughts, and to remind us of unfinished business. However, the body can also heal itself given the right environment. Together we can journey towards health and happiness.

I work with individuals, couples, and families through a primarily psychodynamic framework. Through insight-oriented work with a focus on interpersonal relationship dynamics, attachment, and family systems, it is my goal to help the people I work with uncover repressed trauma from childhood and adolescence in order to gain a more nuanced understanding about their unhealthy relationship dynamics, from past and present, in order to live healthier and more fulfilling lives. I enjoy helping my patients develop a deeper sense of self-awareness in order to understand their emotional and interpersonal struggles. There are many different approaches to therapy, and it is my belief that it is best to adapt to the needs of each person I work with. We often learn to understand ourselves, and the actions and behaviors of others, through the lens of our early life experiences. It is my goal to help you disentangle the complex webs that we all form, which may feel insurmountable to conquer alone. I am committed to providing a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental therapeutic space where we will explore uncharted areas of your life to make connections between prior experiences and current emotions in order to develop insight and growth. I strive to foster a compassionate healing environment in which I will help you form inner coping resources, so you may develop healthy relationships, gain self-esteem, and find relief from emotional distress. It is my goal to tailor treatment to fit your individual needs. Some of the most rewarding aspects of my work involve being able to assess your strengths, share that information with you, and help you implement those strengths in a positive way. When you are ready to take the next step, please call or email me for a complimentary phone consultation. I look forward to meeting you soon. *I am currently seeing patients for both virtual and in-person appointments.

My philosophy in working with others is to work within a respectful and collaborative relationship, with a here-and-now orientation, that acknowledges your strengths and competencies. My belief is that you know yourself better than anyone and it is you who determines your therapy goals. I recognize that change is a process and occurs on a continuum or in stages. Where you are on this continuum will help guide our work supporting a very individualized treatment experience. I approach therapy with a sense of shared expertise - client and therapist each co-creating successful experience and outcome. In other words - you are not alone! I work within an integrated model of care which is strongly influenced and rooted in Relational-Cultural Theory (RCT), positive psychology, harm reduction, mindfulness meditation, self-compassion and acceptance-based approaches all of which are now considered mainstream approaches to psychotherapy. I am also greatly influenced by the evidence-based teachings of Lifestyle Medicine as they impact emotional well-being. I specialize in the treatment of relationship issues including infidelity; depression, anxiety and its spectrum disorders; grief and loss issues, including pet loss; lifestyle and its impact on health and wellness (nutrition, exercise, stress management, sleep and social support), sexuality concerns (including but not limited to those impacting individuals who identify as gay, lesbian or bisexual, gay dads and coming out issues), as well as men dealing with compulsive sexual behavior, erectile dysfunction (ED), Internet pornography; and those living with chronic illness, HIV/AIDS related concerns, alcohol and substance use.

My expertise includes anxiety, depression, grief/loss, stress management, relationship difficulties, adjusting to life transitions, interpersonal skill development, and self-esteem building. As your therapist, I will work at your desired pace but I will also guide and challenge you as needed. I am a licensed clinical psychologist providing psychotherapy for college students and young adults in the Pittsburgh area and throughout Pennsylvania via telehealth. Many of the students I work with are dealing with anxiety, academic pressure, relationship challenges, identity questions, and the stress of major life transitions. My approach to therapy is insight-oriented and collaborative. I integrate psychodynamic therapy with practical strategies drawn from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and mindfulness. Therapy provides a space to better understand patterns in thoughts, emotions, and relationships while developing healthier ways of responding to stress. Students often come to therapy feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure how to move forward. Together we work to clarify what is happening beneath the surface, build emotional resilience, and create meaningful change in areas such as anxiety, depression, relationships, and self-confidence. I provide both in-person sessions in Carnegie, Pennsylvania and secure online therapy throughout the U.S. via PSYPACT. Prior to private practice I trained and worked full time at five counseling counseling centers in various cities.

My approach is person-centered, DBT-oriented, and grounded in a trauma-informed, holistic, and culturally sensitive framework. I believe therapy should be collaborative and tailored to each individual’s unique needs and lived experiences. I place a strong emphasis on building practical, evidence-based skills—particularly DBT skills such as mindfulness, emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness—to help clients better manage emotions, navigate relationships, and cope with life’s challenges. My goal is to support clients in creating meaningful change while honoring where they are in the present moment.
