Therapists for college students near New York, NY
“The world is your oyster.” That was what my mom said as we held each other’s hands before I drove off to start my college life. Along with independence came feelings of insecurity that weighed down my motivation. But, with support, I found my way. We all need support sometimes. I’m glad you’re here to explore the benefits that clinical therapy might offer you. My name is Traci, and I am a second-year master of science student at the Columbia University School of Social Work in New York, specializing in Advanced Clinical Therapy. My eclectic professional and personal experiences will likely come in handy as you and I partner to do our best to move you closer to the peace, purpose, and fulfillment you deserve. I look forward to providing the space where you can feel safe. Traci Cecconello is a Therapist-in-training at Sol Health. Since starting private practice, my clients have been for the most part POC, LGBTQ/non-binary, undergrad/graduate students. Since I spent five years teaching as an adjunct and then full-time professor (in nursing), I have some insights into the challenges today's students currently experience and believe I can be a useful asset toward managing any symptoms that may interfere with obtaining your degree. Even though I am a prescriber, I treat the whole person. I don't want to just know the medicine efficacy, or lack thereof; I also want to know what's going on in your life. Is there balance? Are you connected socially? Should we also be discussing any family issues? Going off to school can be challenging and although psychotropic medication plays a role in ameliorating anxiety and depression, we also can engage non-pharmacologic interventions to get you to a better place.
I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with experience working with clients in areas of anxiety, depression, cultural identity issues, vocational development, and behavioral challenges. I strive to foster a safe, collaborative, and nonjudgmental experience, empowering clients to navigate toward their goals. I have previous experience working together with clients in an outpatient clinic and community college setting to pursue their goals and needs. I am fluent in English and have conversational fluency in Chinese (Cantonese).
I’ve always been a curious person. Some might call it nosy, but for me it’s about wanting to understand what makes each person unique. That curiosity began with my own story, figuring out who I am and where I come from. Growing up in an immigrant household as a biracial person brought its own challenges, and those experiences shaped my connection to this work. Mental health has always felt deeply personal to me. Having been impacted by it both directly and indirectly, I’ve learned to turn adversity into strength and purpose, and to connect with others through empathy and understanding. Think of therapy as a choose-your-own-adventure. My goal is to meet you exactly where you are at. Some sessions might be spent processing the pain of a difficult breakup, while others may focus on something lighter, like venting about a character you can’t stand in a show you’re watching. I value the open-endedness of person-centered therapy and enjoy finding creative and meaningful ways to support clients.

Thank you for reviewing my profile and see if we could be a good fit! My experience includes working with individuals dealing with anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, self-esteem, and relationship issues. Additionally, I work with many clients dealing with career or school related stress. Prior to my work as a Mental Health Counselor, I worked in the corporate world of fashion, which gave me a deep understanding of how a fast-paced and demanding work environment can affect one’s well-being. I believe the most important factor is the relationship between myself and my clients. A genuine, trusting relationship is so critical for this work. My initial training was at Northwestern University, and was centered in a psychodynamic approach; however, I have additional training in, Mindfulness, EMDR, CBT, and IFS approaches. This allows me to pull from multiple techniques to do what is best for each client and their goals. I work collaboratively with individuals. I want to hear your input as we devise a plan on how to reach your goals. You can expect me to check in often on how you feel therapy is going, and use feedback to help modify our approach as needed. Looking forward to meeting you and seeing if we could be a good fit!
Glad to hear you are seeking support. Please look at my website for a better idea of my approach and what sessions are like. Give me a call or email- I look forward to talking more soon!

Suffering from anxiety can be like falling into quicksand, the more you fight it, the deeper you sink. Do you feel lost in your struggle with anxiety or find it difficult articulate how you are feeling? Perhaps you tend to take care of others but can’t figure out how to take care of yourself? I believe you have the power within to change your life story and psychotherapy is the tool to help you lift yourself up. Imagine being the author and the main character in your life story, with the ability to create change and move towards a more meaningful life. Narrative therapists like me use stories as a vehicle for healing, as the way we all experience life is largely defined by our own internal narrative. Sometimes, other people or negative events can write chapters in our life’s story. My goal is, through open and trusting dialogue, to help you reauthor your story, take control of your narrative, and heal. I know personally how vulnerable it can be to look for help. That’s why I bring optimism, hope, perseverance, and compassion to my clinical work and will walk alongside you in your journey to greater insight, self-awareness, and growth. I am currently accepting new clients, so when you are ready, reach out and see if we would be a good fit to work together!

If you struggle with anxiety, you now how exhausting it can be to work so hard to get everything just right. I work with clients who struggle with anxiety and perfectionism just like you. They have trouble saying no, they spend tons of mental energy rehearsing so that they won't make a mistake, and they wind up feeling exhausted and overwhelmed. Together we will figure out how to manage your anxiety in the here and now, while also working toward an understanding of why you push yourself so hard and how to give yourself a break.
Finding calm and clarity when your mind won’t slow down is possible. I can guide the way. We have more influence over our thoughts than we realize. In our work, you’ll learn to approach your thinking more intentionally. As your thoughts change, you’ll start to notice changes in how you feel, the choices you make, and how you move through your life. I help clients slow things down, make sense of what’s been difficult, and address the patterns that keep them feeling stuck. This often includes working through anxiety, depression, and the impact of trauma and past experiences. I also support women navigating life transitions, helping them feel more grounded and steady through change. My approach is thoughtful and practical, combining insight with tools you can use in your day-to-day life.

Hi, I’m Caroline! I’m a high school counselor with a Master of Science in Education in School Counseling from Fordham University and a Bachelor of Science in Sociology with a Psychology minor from the College of Charleston. I am a graduate student at University at Buffalo working toward receiving an Advanced Certificate in Mental Health Counseling. I am committed to fostering a supportive environment where students feel empowered to overcome obstacles and achieve their goals. In my work, I focus on addressing the academic, social-emotional, and career readiness needs of students. My focus areas also include anxiety and life transitions. Whether facilitating workshops on time management and college readiness, guiding students through college and job applications, or offering one-on-one counseling, my approach is always student-centered and strength-based. As a rowing coach with experience supporting and counseling student-athletes, I am dedicated to helping them balance the demands of academics, athletics, and personal growth. I prioritize creating individualized strategies tailored to each student’s unique circumstances, ensuring they feel heard, supported, and prepared for their next steps. I bring a trauma-informed and person-centered approach to my practice, coupled with techniques such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and solution-focused therapy. My ultimate goal is to make mental health and academic support accessible to all students, particularly those from underserved communities. With a background in both school counseling and teaching, I aim to create equitable opportunities for students to thrive. Caroline Lawlor is a therapist-in-training at Sol Health. My practice offers psychodynamic and cognitive behavioral therapy to help patients move beyond roadblocks toward personal growth. We see patients across the lifespan and have been privileged to help people work through some of the most personal struggles in their lives. Together, we can address problematic behaviors (e.g., insomnia, anger, procrastination), troubling emotions (e.g., depression, anxiety, anger, fear), maladaptive thought patterns (e.g., rumination, worry, self-criticism), and relationship issues (e.g., work, family, dating). Taking the first step toward approaching your challenges can be scary. Finding a therapist you trust and with whom you feel comfortable is one of the most important factors in helping you to move forward. My practice also offers comprehensive psychological assessment services for children, adolescents, and adults. We use evidence-based assessment tools and methods grounded in research to conduct psychodiagnostic, psychoeducational, and fitness for duty/disability evaluations. The results of these evaluations can be used to aid in diagnosis and treatment, facilitate the provision of special education services, support applications for accommodations at school or work, or provide evidence of fitness for employment. We offer specialized consultation services, as well. Please check out our website to learn more.
