Therapists for college students near New York, NY
Collaborative therapy providing a tailored approach that builds on one’s own strengths and uses evidence-based practices and tools to aid in healthy expression, growth, and change. My goal is to make therapy as approachable and fun as possible. I’m direct and empathetic in my approach and believe our relationship is important to help you create change and reach your goals. Using evidence-based treatments, we will learn ways to manage current stressors and create hope for the future. Together, we will develop new ways for you to overcome stressful events and feel empowered to face life’s obstacles.
I take a person-centered approach to therapy. You, the client, are totally in charge of where this journey takes us. I believe that the core of successful therapy is in the bond between client and therapist. As such, I always meet my clients where they are at and work to build a strong relationship through genuine and honest conversations. I am skilled in CBT/DBT, and I hold a certification in Clinical Trauma Treatment (CCTP). Throughout my career, I have worked extensively with adolescents and young adults to build introspection, curiosity, and compassion in order to address their concerns with anxiety, depression, and trauma. Listen, life can get really messy, so let's dig in together. Because you are worthy of growth and change and happiness.

Starting college is a major transition, and it can bring a mix of excitement, pressure, stress, and uncertainty. You may find yourself feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or unsure of how to navigate relationships, academics, and the growing expectations of independence. I work with students to better understand their emotional experiences, build confidence, and develop more effective ways of managing stress. Together, we focus on helping you feel more grounded, more connected, and better able to navigate both your inner world and your relationships. I am also licensed to provide comprehensive in-person testing. This may be for your personal understanding of yourself or it could be to support applications for accommodations for academic work at your college or for standardized testing (e.g. GRE, LSAT, MCAT etc).
Are you waking up already tired, dreading another video meeting, wondering how work that once excited you became so draining? Friends think you’re doing great, yet inside you feel pressure to keep advancing and wonder what it’s all for. Relationships can feel just as complicated, especially when desire clashes with your values or what you “should” want. You may feel lonely even around people. You’re good at thinking logically, but thinking harder hasn’t helped; it keeps you stuck. You want relief, clarity, and a steadier sense of self in work and relationships. I help you step out of overthinking, self-criticism, overwhelm, and repeating relationship loops. We’ll pause when you’d normally push harder, notice thoughts, emotions, and body cues, and make room for a different response. We’ll connect patterns to past experiences, clarify your values, and hold values and feelings without shame so choices feel aligned. If you’ve tried self-help or even AI to “figure it out” and still feel stuck, you’re not alone. Therapy is different: a real relationship where you don’t have to carry the hidden parts by yourself, and support can go deeper than insight alone. We’ll go at a pace that feels safe and honest. If this resonates, reach out to schedule a first session.
Life can be chaotic, challenging and heartbreaking, but among all of that, beautiful and awe-inspiring. If you’re reading this, maybe you’ve already read a few of these therapist bios by now, but if you’re feeling alone in life’s big questions then look no further. I take a curious, yet “no-B.S.” stance as we explore life’s intricacies and curve-balls together in the therapeutic process. My experience with adolescents, emerging adults and older adults has helped me create a flexible approach to meet my clients where they’re at. Whether I am working with you, your child, or your family, I strive to create a judgment-free zone for my clients to experience the most authentic version of themselves. I lean on a client-centered approach, meaning that I give my clients the space to be the expert in their own lives. Through mindfulness and dialectical behavioral therapy, I help my clients to practice gaining distance from overwhelming thoughts, feelings and emotions. That being said, I recognize that there is no “one size fits all” approach and I collaborate with my clients along every step of the journey. Showing up to therapy isn’t always easy, and I value the courage and vulnerability that it takes to invite someone into your inner world. Whether you’re struggling with anxiety, loneliness, OCD, depression, grief, heartbreak, or a case of “what does it all mean” you won’t be at it alone. Much like the contradictions we encounter in life, the work we will do together will be challenging yet rewarding. I’m currently accepting both virtual and in-person sessions and look forward to hearing from you!
Is it just me, or do a lot of these "bios" start to sound the same after a while? Finding a therapist online is difficult, which I know from personal experience. I am here to provide connections, help facilitate joy and offer a space for you to learn to express your needs and be supported. Our practice together will value your lived experiences as the primary material and will be co-created through empathy and open communication. These systems of mental health are not ones that want us to "feel better", thanks to capitalism and systemic racism. I want to offer a space to fight against that. I have experience working with "high-risk" (read, traumatized and hurt) people living with mental illnesses and difficult experiences. I am comfortable working with what is often labeled as the more "severe" diagnoses and I focus of finding the health in every individual. I am a New York State licensed creative arts therapist and a board certified dance/movement therapist. This helps me in finding creative and expressive ways to connect in therapy spaces for all different types of people. I believe we can all benefit from some extra support lately! Contact me for a free consult to see if working together will be a good fit.

Opening up—being vulnerable—feels like a struggle, and you know it’s keeping you stuck and alone. It’s not that you haven’t tried. You’ve been open, set boundaries, and “put yourself out there”. You’ve invested time, energy, and effort into making your relationships work. Yet you're feeling stuck, frustrated, wondering where I'm going wrong. I work with individuals in New York who want to break old relationship patterns and build connections that actually feel good. My warm, collaborative style blends solution-focused, psychodynamic, and person-centered approaches. I offer affirming care for LGBTQIA+ clients and those in non-traditional relationships. Healing from relationship pain takes courage and care—and you don’t have to do it alone. Whether you’re single, dating, in a situationship, or exploring polyamory, we’ll move forward with curiosity, not judgment. If you’re ready to stop repeating patterns and start building relationships that feel safe and supportive, I’d be honored to work with you.

WHAT CAN CLIENTS EXPECT TO TAKE AWAY FROM SESSIONS WITH YOU? My goal is for my clients to enjoy the challenges presented during sessions and find the modifications that we devise together are the changes they seek. TriBeCa Therapy is a center for psychotherapy that was founded on the assumption that human beings are original, imaginative, inspired, and inventive. We particularly love our work with young adults and college students and are connected to issues they deal with. Issues related to sex and dating, drugs and drinking, depression and anxiety and academic pressures aren’t topics that will freak us out. We can handle it. College students frequently discuss with us challenges such as: making friends in ways that don’t involve alcohol, making friends as a person of color, navigating social situations that demand connecting with strangers (like in the cafeteria) and finding “their people.” We work to create a partnership that takes these challenges on together, trying new strategies, taking increasingly bigger risks and dealing with the disappointments and celebrating the successes that follow. College is a time when many young adults are dealing with very adults issues like sex, sexual assault, eating disorders, substance abuse, managing money, race, class, and career choices. Creating a space where young adults feel comfortable talking about these issues is a strength of our therapists and a non-judgmental stance is key. The object isn’t to insist on a particular set of values or practices, but to support young people to understand what they are dealing with and to make active choices about who they want to be.
