Life is incredibly overwhelming at times, isn’t it? We have all kinds of expectations and demands from our family, our partners, friends, employers, professors, and even ourselves. It can seem like a harsh world and the last few years have felt especially taxing. So many young adults are inundated with stress and sadness. This can lead to feeling anxious, unfocused, unproductive, and irritable. Then the self-doubt and criticism inevitably emerge and the questions of “What is my purpose?” and “Will things ever get better?” arise. If you are experiencing challenges or struggles, I would love to work with you and create some clear and concise goals as well as strategies to attain your objectives. I incorporate an integrative approach to therapy, using evidence-based cognitive behavioral and solution-focused techniques into my practice, primarily. We can talk about whatever is causing you stress. Seriously! Nothing is off-limits and there’s no judgement here. Instead, we explore the issues that impact your relationships and your life. Together, we will work to understand the origins of your overwhelming emotions, create some self-care practices for you, develop coping skills to help you feel better, and set forth an action plan to help you move forward. We will work towards your vision of happiness and contentment so that you can live the life that you deserve! I can offer you an empathetic and nonjudgmental relationship in which I support and encourage you in working through your frustrations, questions of identity and self-exploration, or relationship issues. I can assist you to become more aware of your emotional responses to disappointments, and to see that setbacks can be a time of self-reflection and growth. I like to create a safe and supportive environment to allow clients to explore the challenges in their lives and to create healthier coping strategies and ways of thinking to live happier and more satisfying lives. I enjoy working with adults and older adolescents struggling with stress, life problems, self-confidence, and/or relationship issues. I have a background in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, but I utilize a variety of techniques in sessions. I am a strong believer in "word choice" and becoming aware of the implications our words have on our thoughts and feelings.

The road to self discovery is scary, and you are taking the first steps in seeking out the right therapist for you. It’s an important investment and you want to make sure you find just the right connection. My approach is deeply personal. Working with each person to learn and identify how they are impacted by the stories of their life and their history. In doing so, we are able to bring out what is truly possible. I believe strongly in the power of our stories. From a very young age, we all start learning things about ourselves and our world. These “life lessons” start to turn into the stories we repeat to ourselves over and over again. They become who we are. Those stories are not always nice and they hold us back. But most importantly, they are often not true! They are the stories we created when we were young and we have retold them to ourselves over and over again in a weird game of telephone with one player.

Hi, I'm Andi (pronouns: she/they). I am a licensed mental health counselor (LMHC) in Washington and Massachusetts, and I have been practicing since 2010. Therapy with me is fluid, and involves a mixture of deep processing and more structured skill building. I specialize in supporting adults from a trauma-informed, culturally-responsive, somatic, social justice and Internal Family Systems (IFS) perspective, and am intimately aware of the particular challenges of Asian Americans, marginalized groups and the immigrant experience. I provide a relatable, compassionate and open space, where you can explore all aspects of yourself, and feel heard, seen and known. I believe we all have the innate capacity to heal and transform. Therapy with me is holistic - engaging your mind, body, emotions and spirit - focusing on concrete skills and strategies for tangible relief in your day to day, as well as deep understanding and establishing a greater sense of self, ease and freedom to “just be”. Thank you for considering me as a potential support in your journey. I'm happy to answer any questions you have in a free 15-minute consultation.

Have you ever felt like you’re doing everything you’re “supposed” to do, but still feel overwhelmed, lost, or unsure of where you fit? Maybe you’re trying to balance classes, work, relationships, family expectations, and your own goals while quietly wondering, “Am I the only one struggling with this?” I work with young adults, including first generation students of diverse backgrounds, who are navigating big transitions and trying to figure out who they are while building the life they want. This may look like feeling stuck, dealing with academic or career stress, struggling with anxiety or burnout, feeling pressure to succeed, or trying to find your place in a new environment. As a bilingual therapist and someone who is first-generation, I understand the challenges of finding yourself while balancing family expectations, culture, and your own goals. Therapy can be a space to explore your identity, build confidence, and create a life that feels authentic to you. Whether you are struggling with stress, perfectionism, relationships, grief, major life changes, or simply feeling like you’re not where you want to be, I provide a supportive space where you can feel understood and develop tools to move forward. You don’t have to have everything figured out to start therapy. Sometimes reaching out is the first step toward understanding yourself better and creating meaningful change.
