Therapists for college students near Northeastern University
Hi there, I am so glad you’re here. Whether you're feeling stuck, anxious, overwhelmed, or just trying to figure things out, I offer a calm, compassionate space where you can breathe, speak freely, and be fully yourself. I’m a warm, caring listener who shows up with patience, presence, and deep respect for whatever you’re carrying. I specialize in supporting people through life’s in-between moments - whether it’s starting college, questioning identity, launching into adulthood, adjusting after a loss, or facing the “what now?” moments of life. I believe growth happens when we feel safe enough to show up just as we are, and I’m here to support you at your pace. My background includes years of working with adolescents and young adults in school, community, and clinical settings. I hold licenses in Clinical Social Work as well as School Adjustment Counseling. I draw from a range of approaches, including person-centered, trauma-informed, and strengths-based practices, to create the therapeutic space that works best for you. I bring a grounded, nonjudgmental presence and see our work as a collaborative process. I’m here to help you deepen self-understanding, explore your values, and build the tools to move forward with clarity and confidence. I am LGBTQ+ affirming, neurodiversity affirming, and committed to creating an inclusive space for all identities and lived experiences. My goal is for you to feel truly seen, heard, and supported in every session. Finding the right therapist can feel overwhelming, so I offer a free 15-minute consultation so we can connect, talk through what you're looking for, and see if it feels like a good fit. You deserve support that feels right for you.
Hello, and welcome. My name is Kathleen McGah and I offer a comfortable, confidential space for teens, college-age students and young adults to talk about whatever is on their mind, at one's own pace, and without judgment. When people have a safe place to practice putting thoughts and feelings into words, they find they grow psychologically stronger over time - and more satisfied with various aspects of life. I have worked with many students who, initially, have been hesitant to talk with a professional. (Even if one has had a counseling experience in the past, it can still be difficult to start with a new therapist.) It makes sense if you have some hesitation about taking this step. Only you will know if you are ready. If you have been struggling and think it would be good to meet with a therapist, though, please reach out.

In addition to helping people alleviate current pain points, I assist in obtaining skills to develop a wellness practice that will be beneficial beyond sessions. My approach is person-centered and informed by evidence-based practices, including Lifestyle Medicine (nutrition, physical activity, sleep hygiene, and stress management), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness Practice and Solution Focused Therapy. Through my own lived experience, I can deeply resonate with the realities my Millennial and Gen Z clients face. Dating, social media, politics, finances, and demands from school or work can be so daunting. My main priority as a therapist is to create a non-judgmental, engaging, and approachable environment where you feel empowered to navigate these challenges together. Just having one of those days where you need to vent about your mom, partner, or roommate? There’s plenty of space for that too. While I pull from many approaches in my work, I especially enjoy utilizing skills-based therapies like Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I). These can address concerns like anxiety, stress, interpersonal conflict, sleep, and more. My goal is that you leave each and every session feeling more ready to take on what life is throwing your way. If you’re looking to gain control amidst our out-of-control world, I’d love to connect with you. Please don’t hesitate in reaching out for a free 15-minute consultation.
