Therapists for college students near Indianapolis, IN
Let me be your guide to better understanding yourself and why you think, feel, and behave in the ways that you do. You know yourself better than anyone, but I can help you notice patterns that have been hidden or locked away. Whether experiencing anxiety, relationship concerns, or a low self-esteem, it is my hope to give you a soft space to land with genuine care and kindness. I’ve been a practitioner for 5 years specializing in anxiety, attachment wounds, inner child work, and sex & sexuality. I work with lots of different populations, but mostly work with femmes, trans and nonbinary folks, and the LGBTQ+ community. My goal as your therapist is for you to get to know yourself and others in a more attuned, empathetic, and compassionate way. In my personal time I love to read (expect a lot of book recommendations) and occasionally crochet. I love a good cup of coffee, practicing yoga, and connecting with the earth and nature through native gardening and hiking.

My approach to therapy comes from a space of empathy, compassion, and absolutely zero judgement. My goal for every individual is to help them experience a positive change. I utilize a strengths based approach to encourage my clients to tap into their own strengths and resources while also meeting them where they are at in their personal therapeutic journey. I became interested in therapy due to my own personal struggles with addiction and with 11 years of sobriety, I hope to help others. My goal is for my clients to get something out of the work we do together and for it to be worthwhile and beneficial for them. I work alongside my clients to help them reach their goals while appreciating and celebrating their strengths. I have a laid back approach which includes colorful language, an odd sense of humor, and finding a balance to push you outside of your comfort zone to accomplish your goals. I hope to create a safe space for my clients to be themselves and for me to help them process life's tough challenges and celebrate the victories.
College can feel like a lot, figuring out your future, managing stress, navigating relationships, and trying to stay grounded through it all. It’s common to feel overwhelmed by academic pressure, unsure about your career path, or stuck in patterns that leave you feeling anxious or disconnected in relationships. I offer a supportive, judgment-free space where you can talk openly about what’s going on and start to make sense of it. Together, we’ll work through challenges at your pace, helping you build confidence, strengthen relationships, and feel more grounded as you navigate this chapter of your life.
Do you find yourself unable to shut your mind off? Replaying past events or chronically worrying? Is your inner critic keeping you from finding confidence in yourself and security with your place in the world? Have you experienced emotional pain and confusion that keeps your past in the present? Are you struggling to build self-esteem or find self-worth? Has the stress from daily responsibilities compounded existing problems with depression, anxiety, or loss? It is possible to move through emotional pain and self-doubt. Together, we can build insight into thoughts, patterns, and behaviors that may be holding you back; explore your strengths and values; and determine how to make healthy change a part of your life. Learning styles vary, so I use elements from different therapeutic approaches. We can work together to discover the strengths you may not have known you have to achieve more satisfaction and balance in the most important areas of your life.

Hello! My name is Rachael Trimbur and I am here with you on your treatment journey however that may look. I take a very trauma-informed and strengths-based approach. I am trained in EMDR and have been using this approach for two years. I am a licensed clinical addictions counselor and a licensed clinical social worker with more than 10 years of experience working in the dual diagnosis field. I began my career working with substance use disorders and have a lot of experience in this area. I am also a qualified Substance Abuse Professional (SAP) and complete substance abuse evaluations. My experience includes working for community mental health centers, doing crisis work, working in an employee assisted treatment program, and program development for a substance use and medication-assisted treatment facility. I am always looking to expand my knowledge and stay up to date on evidenced-based treatment approaches. I understand that one size does not fit all and pull from various modalities to help those I work with meet their goals. The most important thing I have learned over the years is to learn from those I work with. I take a very person-centered approach. As Stephen Covey wrote, “Seek first to understand, then to be understood.”
