As an art therapist, I believe in the transformative power of creativity to help people of any age express themselves and navigate life's complexities. You don’t need to consider yourself to be an artist to find benefit in creative healing. I will work with you to introduce artmaking that meets your unique needs. Alongside art therapy, I also offer traditional talk therapy, providing a holistic approach to mental and emotional well-being that can be best catered to your specific therapeutic needs. In my practice, I prioritize a person-centered, existential, and strengths-based approach, recognizing that each person is the expert of their own experiences. I work with children, adolescents, and adults, understanding that therapy knows no age limit. Holding an M.S. in Clinical Psychology with specializations in Clinical Counseling and Sex Therapy from Capella University, Melissa brings a wealth of knowledge and a genuine desire to help others. Her foundation in psychology began at Kennesaw State University (Go Owls!), where she earned a B.S. in Psychology and a Minor in Statistics and Data Analysis. Melissa's diverse experience spans various settings, allowing her to connect with and support a wide range of individuals, including adults and children, couples, foster children, refugees, and Spanish speakers. She is also experienced in assisting those navigating challenges such as addiction, domestic violence, trafficking, and abuse. Adding a touch of warmth to her practice is Mochi, her three-year-old assistant clinical cat, who occasionally makes confidential appearances in telehealth sessions.
